DETECTION CONDITION
|
• The PCM monitors the engine speed for specified period after the engine shutdown. If the PCM detects that the engine speed is not dropped for specified period after the engine switch is off. The PCM determines that the engine is not shutdown.
Diagnostic support note
• The FREEZE FRAME DATA is not available.
• The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
|
• Engine oil deterioration (Appears an excessive oil mist in blow by gas as the engine continues run)
• Fuel injector malfunction
• Engine internal components malfunction (Burning/seizure, abnormal combustion)
• PCM malfunction

VERIFY RELATED PENDING OR STORED DTC
• Connect the M-MDS to the DLC-2
• Retrieve the PCM continuous memory DTC.
• Are other DTCs present?

Yes

Go to the applicable malfunction diagnosis procedure.

No
|
Go to the next step.

VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
• Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

|
VERIFY RELATED SERVICE INFORMATION
• Verify related Service Information availability.
• Is any related Service Information available?
|
Yes
|
Perform repair or diagnosis according to available Service Information.
• If vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
VERIFY ENGINE OIL AMOUNT
• Inspect the engine oil amount.
• Is the engine oil amount above X line on dipstick?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to Step 12.
|

DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS MECHANICAL OR NOT
• Remove the charge air cooler.
• When titling the charge air cooler, does engine oil flow from the charge air cooler?
|
Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the engine oil, then go to Step 12.
|

DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS BURNING/SEIZURE OR ABNORMAL COMBUSTION OF ENGINE
• Remove the glow plug.
• Is the heat-generating area of the glow plug burnt out?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Replace the engine oil, then go to Step 12.
|

VISUALLY INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR AND CYLINDER HEAD
• Remove the fuel injector and cylinder head, then visually inspect for the following.
• Is there any damage or adhesion of melt?

Yes
|
Go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to Step 10.
|

VISUALLY INSPECT INSIDE OF CYLINDER
• Is there any vertical scratch (such as one a fingernail can detect by scratching), or a dent on the top surface of the piston caused by valve impact?
|
Yes
|
Replace or overhaul the engine as a partial engine unit.
Refer to the engine workshop manual.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
INSPECT CRANKSHAFT BEARING FOR DAMAGE
• Remove belts from engine accessories.
• Install a wrench to the crankshaft pulley locknut and turn it clockwise.
• Does it turn smoothly?
|
Yes
|
If damage to the fuel injector is detected in Step 7:
• Replace the fuel injector.
If dent or adhesion of melt on the cylinder head is detected in Step 7:
• Replace or overhaul the cylinder head.
Refill the engine oil, then go to Step 12.
|
No
|
Replace or overhaul the engine as a partial engine unit.
Refer to the engine workshop manual.
After repair procedure, go to Step 12.

VISUALLY INSPECT INSIDE OF CYLINDER
• Is there any vertical scratch (such as one a fingernail can detect by scratching), or a dent on the top surface of the piston caused by valve impact?

Yes
|
Replace or overhaul the engine as a short engine unit.
Refer to the engine workshop manual.
After repair procedure, go to Step 12.

No
|
Go to the next step.

|
INSPECT CRANKSHAFT BEARING FOR DAMAGE

Yes

Engine internal components are normal.
Replace the engine oil, then go to the next step.

No
|
Replace or overhaul the engine as a short engine unit.
Refer to the engine workshop manual.
After repair procedure, go to the next step.

VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P2105 COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Switch the ignition to ON (engine off).
• Clear the DTC from PCM memory using the M-MDS.
• Perform fuel injector injection amount correction procedure.
• Perform the Repair Verification Drive Mode.
• Is the same DTC present?

Yes
|
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
If the malfunction recurs, replace the PCM.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.
|

|
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform “AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE”.
• Are any DTCs present?
|
Yes
|
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
|
No
|
Troubleshooting completed.
