• M range switch, TR switch, instrument cluster, or related wiring harness malfunction

Note

• Before following the troubleshooting steps, make sure that the Automatic Transaxle ON-Board Diagnostic and Automatic Transaxle Basic Inspection are conducted. (See BASIC INSPECTION[FN4A-EL].)

STEP	INSPECTION	ACTION
1	With the ignition switch at ON, When selector lever is moved, does selector illumination indicate synchronized position to lever location?	Yes	Go to the next step.
No	Check value at the following. PCM terminal voltage: • 1AS (ZY, Z6)/1S (LF) (TR switch) Repair or replace any defective parts.
2	Inspect the voltage at PCM terminal 1N (ZY, Z6)/1O (LF) (M range switch). (See PCM INSPECTION[ZJ, ZY, Z6].) (See PCM INSPECTION[LF, L3].) Is voltage normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
No	Repair or replace any defective part.
3	Inspect the instrument cluster. (See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INSPECTION.) Is instrument cluster normal?	Yes	Go to the next step.
No	Repair or replace any defective part.
4	Disconnect the PCM and instrument cluster connector. • Turn the ignition switch off. • Check continuity between the following circuits: ― PCM terminal 1AE (ZY, Z6)/1AM (LF) and body GND ― PCM terminal 1AI (ZY, Z6)/1AI (LF) and body GND ― Instrument cluster terminal 1W and body GND ― Instrument cluster terminal 1X and body GND • Is there continuity?	Yes	Repair or replace harness for short to GND, then go to the next step.
No	Go to the next step.
5	Disconnect the PCM and instrument cluster connector. • Turn the ignition switch off. • Check continuity between the following circuits: ― PCM terminal 1AE (ZY, Z6)/1AM (LF) and instrument cluster terminal 1W ― PCM terminal 1AI (ZY, Z6)/1AI (LF) and instrument cluster terminal 1X • Is there continuity?	Yes	Go to the next step.
No	Repair or replace harness for open circuit, then go to next step.
6	• Verify the test results. ― If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms. ― If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair information and perform repair or diagnosis. • If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed. • If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the PCM.

Check value at the following.

PCM terminal voltage:

• 1AS (ZY, Z6)/1S (LF) (TR switch)

Repair or replace any defective parts.

Inspect the voltage at PCM terminal 1N (ZY, Z6)/1O (LF) (M range switch).

Is voltage normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

Repair or replace any defective part.

Inspect the instrument cluster.

(See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INSPECTION.)

Is instrument cluster normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

Repair or replace any defective part.

Disconnect the PCM and instrument cluster connector.

• Turn the ignition switch off.

• Check continuity between the following circuits:

― PCM terminal 1AE (ZY, Z6)/1AM (LF) and body GND

― PCM terminal 1AI (ZY, Z6)/1AI (LF) and body GND

― Instrument cluster terminal 1W and body GND

― Instrument cluster terminal 1X and body GND

• Is there continuity?

Yes

Repair or replace harness for short to GND, then go to the next step.

Go to the next step.

Disconnect the PCM and instrument cluster connector.

• Turn the ignition switch off.

• Check continuity between the following circuits:

― PCM terminal 1AE (ZY, Z6)/1AM (LF) and instrument cluster terminal 1W

― PCM terminal 1AI (ZY, Z6)/1AI (LF) and instrument cluster terminal 1X

• Is there continuity?

Yes

Go to the next step.

Repair or replace harness for open circuit, then go to next step.

• Verify the test results.

― If normal, return to the diagnostic index to service any additional symptoms.

― If the malfunction remains, inspect the related Service Bulletins and/or On-line Repair information and perform repair or diagnosis.

• If the vehicle is repaired, troubleshooting is completed.

• If the vehicle is not repaired or additional diagnostic information is not available, replace the PCM.

27	Gear position indicator light does not illuminate in D or M range
DESCRIPTION	• Gear position indicator light in instrument cluster does not illuminate in D or M range with the ignition switch at ON.
