EGR calibration fault

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM monitors the EGR valve position using EGR position sensor when the engine switch from ON to off position. The EGR valve position sensor signal voltage is more than 1.2 V or less than 0.65 V, the PCM determines that the EGR valve offset is out of range.
Diagnostic support note
•  MIL illuminates if PCM detects the above malfunctioning condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
•  PENDING CODE is available if PCM detects the above malfunction conditions during first drive cycle.
•  FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
•  DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  EGR valve malfunction (stuck)
•  EGR valve position sensor malfunction
•  EGR valve position sensor signal voltage intermittent fault
•  PCM malfunction

VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
•  Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related service repair information availability.
•  Is any related repair information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
•  If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

IDENTIFY TRIGGER DTC FOR FREEZE FRAME DATA
•  Is DTC P1303 on FREEZE FRAME DATA?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to troubleshooting procedures for DTC in FREEZE FRAME DATA.

INSPECT EGR VALVE OPERATION
•  Perform EGR Valve Operation Inspection.
•  Does the EGR valve operate properly?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace malfunctioning part according to inspection result. Then, go to Step 6.

INSPECT EGR VALVE POSITION SENSOR
•  Access EGRP PID with % and V mode.
•  Turn the engine switch to ON position (engine off).
•  Move the EGR valve using EGRP PID % mode simulation function.
•  Monitor EGRP PID V mode.
•  Does EGRP PID V mode moves according to EGR valve actuate value?
Yes
Go to the INTERMITTENT CONCERN TROUBLESHOOTING.
No
Replace the supply pump, then go to the next step.
6
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P1303 COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Turn the engine switch to ON position (engine off).
•  Clear the DTC from PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Start the engine.
•  Is the same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the PCM, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
7
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform “AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE”.
•  Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Troubleshooting completed.
