Fuel additive level circuit range/performance

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM monitors the fuel additive level using the fuel additive control module. If the fuel additive control module detects that following items are below or above specified. The PCM determines that the fuel additive level circuit is out of range or performance problem.
―  Additive dosing status
―  Maximum additive quantity
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Fuel filler cap switch malfunction
•  Fuel additive supply pump malfunction
•  Fuel gauge sender unit malfunction
•  Fuel additive level sensor malfunction
•  Erratic fuel tank level signal from instrument cluster to fuel additive control module
•  Erratic required fuel additive amount signal from PCM to fuel additive control module
•  Fuel additive control module malfunction
•  PCM malfunction
•  Instrument cluster malfunction

VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
•  Has the FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.

VERIFY REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
•  Verify related service repair information availability.
•  Is any related repair information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

IDENTIFY TRIGGER DTC FOR FREEZE FRAME DATA
•  Is P1923 on FREEZE FRAME DATA?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to troubleshooting procedures for DTC in FREEZE FRAME DATA.

IDENTIFY MALFUNCTION IN HS-CAN LINE OR OTHER PARTS
•  Is U0001, U0100, U0155 or U0118 with P1923?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY FUEL GAUGE INDICATION PROPERLY
•  Verify that the fuel gauge indication at instrument cluster.
•  Is the fuel gauge indicating fuel tank level properly?
Yes
Go to the Step 9.
No
Go to the next step.

PERFORM INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SELF-TEST FUNCTION
•  Perform the instrument cluster self-test function.
•  Is there any malfunction code detected?
Yes
Repair or replace malfunctioning part according to inspection result, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to the next step.

INSPECT FUEL GAUGE
•  Inspect the fuel gauge by setting it to check code 23 of the input/output check mode.
•  Is the fuel gauge okay?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace malfunctioning part according to inspection results, then go to Step 10.

INSPECT FUEL FILLER CAP SWITCH
•  Inspect the fuel filler cap switch.
•  Is the fuel filler cap switch normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the fuel filler cap switch, then go to Step 10.

INSPECT FUEL ADDITIVE LEVEL SENSOR
•  Inspect the fuel additive level sensor.
•  Is the fuel additive level sensor normal?
Yes
Inspect and repair or replace the fuel additive pump, then go to the next step.
No
Replace the fuel additive level sensor, then go to Step 10.

VERIFY THAT DTC P1923 TROUBLESHOOTING IS COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Clear the DTC from the PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Start the engine and warm-up to normal operating temperature.
•  Run the vehicle under the FREEZE FRAME DATA stored condition.
•  Retrieve the DTC using the M-MDS.
•  Is the PENDING CODE same DTC present?
Yes
Replace PCM, then go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
•  Perform "After Repair Procedure".
•  Is there any DTC present?
Yes
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
If the DTC P1923 presents replace the PCM.
No
Troubleshooting completed.
