DTC P0089

Fuel pressure regulator performance

DETECTION CONDITION
•  The PCM monitors the fuel pressure in the common rail from the fuel pressure sensor while the engine running. If the fuel pressure drops before it reaches the fuel pressure limiter regulating pressure while supply pump and suction pump fail-safe function, the PCM determines that the fuel pressure limiter regulating performance problem.
Diagnostic support note
•  The MIL does not illuminate.
•  The FREEZE FRAME DATA is not available.
•  The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
POSSIBLE CAUSE
•  Fuel pressure limiter malfunction
•  Fuel leakage between supply pump and fuel injector through common rail
•  PCM malfunction

Go to the next step.
5
INSPECT FUEL PRESSURE LIMITER REGULATING PRESSURE
•  Access FRP PID using the M-MDS.
•  Start the engine and run it at idle.
•  Disconnect the suction control valve connector.
•  Monitor the FRP PID.
•  Does the FRP PID indicate less than 112 MPa {1,142 kgf/cm2, 16,244 psi}?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the common rail, then go to the next step.
6
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P0089 COMPLETED
•  Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
•  Turn the engine switch to the ON position (engine off).
•  Clear the DTC from PCM memory using the M-MDS.
•  Start the engine.
•  Is the same DTC present?
